Mystery Accident Leaves Local Driver With No Memory Of Crash Or Taking Out PPI

A Thurcroft man says he has no recollection of an accident that has left him with confusion and memory loss.
Van driver Dave Druett, 29, says the first he knew about the accident was when someone rang him out of the blue from a firm of solicitors to see whether he wanted help in making a compensation claim. “At first I thought they’d got the wrong bloke” he told us “But then I got calls from other firms about the same thing. One of them was from India, so it must have been a big accident for news to have spread that far, but I can remember nothing about it. It’s scary.”
Dave contacted South Yorkshire police and Rotherham General Hospital but neither had any record of him being involved in an accident. “Maybe it happened on holiday” he said. “But I haven’t been on holiday. At least I don’t think I have.”
He is now appealing for anyone who might know anything about the accident to come forward, but his concerns now go much deeper.
“If I’ve forgotten the accident, what else has been wiped from my memory?” he said “Maybe I’ve got a wife and kids somewhere…some money…friends even. I just don’t know any more.”
It’s a living nightmare for Dave that doesn’t seem to end, with new discoveries about his past life coming daily. “Just this morning…” he told us “I got a phone call from someone telling me they could help me claim back my payment protection insurance. I don’t even remember taking it out.”
