Supermarket Drone Goes Down Over Eastwood

A new Waitrose drone delivery service has been suspended after one of its mini-aircraft went down over Eastwood en route to a delivery of unsweetened almond milk and organic vegetarian linguini to an address in Sunnyside.
Local motorist Gerald Trotter was in his car travelling along Fitzwilliam Rd when he saw the drone flying over central Eastwood. “It seemed to be flying normally” he told us “and then seconds later there was a bright flash and it went up like a bloody firework.”
A spokesman for Waitrose confirmed the loss of the aircraft last Thursday morning and said that she didn’t expect any of the merchandise to survive, especially given the use-by dates.
“We’ve pinpointed the location of the black box recorder,” she told us “and it’s still emitting a strong signal. But given the terrain and local conditions, recovery is going to be difficult and hazardous. We’re putting together a specialist team as we speak and hope to have more information on the cause of the crash within a few weeks.”
It’s been a bad time for this run-down area of the town. In an unrelated incident last month, there were unconfirmed reports of local residents using home made military-style ground to air missiles to kill crows for food.
