“Happily Married Man” Admits To Liking Musical Theatre

A “happily married” Rotherham man has stunned the local community by admitting that he likes musical theatre.
Martin Ferris from Thrybergh says that he’s been to see several musicals including Miss Saigon, Cats, Hairspray and Legally Blonde and actually enjoyed them. “It’s true” said Martin 56, who claims that he owns only one pink shirt and doesn’t sculpt his eyebrows or have a strange fascination with Judy Garland. “I just like the songs and that. I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
A former friend who asked not to be named isn’t so sure though. “He seemed like a normal bloke -liked his football and a pint – but now this. It’s come as a bit of a shock. I knew he liked Kylie, but I thought we were all singing off the same hymn sheet on that one. I’ll still say hello to him if I see him in the street, but that’s as far as it goes now.”
Martin, who says a Barbara Streisand album he bought in 1997 was a present for his wife, remains unapologetic. “Is it really so strange that a bloke likes to listen to some nice music and watch a bit of dancing? I don’t think so. There’s no more to it than that.”
And Martins wife Karen agrees ” It is a bit odd, so I was a suspicious at first” she said “but I haven’t noticed anything else unusual. I took him to see the latest Bridget Jones film and he thought it was crap.”
