Celebrations at Land Rover As Evoque Successfully Mounts a Kerb

Champagne corks were popping at Land Rover headquarters in Gaydon last night, following the news that a Range Rover Evoque has successfully mounted a kerb. Four years after launch, it’s the first time that an Evoque owner has deliberately left the tarmac.
Tanya Goodbody from Wickersley was dropping her children Ivor and Wanda off at St Albans School on Morthern Road when the ground-breaking event took place. “I’m not very good at parking,” Tanya 32 from Northfield Lane told us, “so I usually abandon the car in the middle of Morrisons car park at Bramley and walk. But I was a bit late and so had no option but to drive right in. I saw a Reliant Robin with a wheel up on the kerb and thought, ‘if he can do it, maybe I can too’. It was nerve-wracking, but I did it. People were standing and cheering, and one man even offered me a flag to plant, which I think was a nice touch.”
Asked if she would do it again, Tanya was bullish. “I think I would,” she said “but I want to tackle a grass verge next.”
A spokesperson for Land Rover told us, “It’s testimony to the fact that the Evoque is a true off-roader and isn’t all -show-and -no -go. That was a four inch kerb and we were up there mixing it with a plastic pig. I think that says it all. This is a big day for Land Rover.”
