Worries that KFC outlets in Rotherham would be adversely affected by the reported chicken shortages, proved unfounded this week after it emerged that gristle and fat supply lines remained unaffected. There have been reports of branches throughout the country being forced to close because of distribution issues, but there are no such problems in the borough.

A spokesperson for the Canklow branch told the Bugle, “ Although we do use the odd piece of chicken in our offering for nostalgic reasons, this really isn’t an issue for us. Quite frankly you could deep fry a bag of rubber bands and as long as it was in a bargain bucket, they’d eat it. As it is, we’re getting plenty of fat and gristle through the door, so happy days.”

Customers seemed unconcerned when we spoke to them as they left the restaurant this lunchtime. “It makes no difference to me,” said Keeley Cobbler from Brinsworth “I always just nibble off the fried bit and chuck the middle bit away. I don’t even like chicken.”
