‘Don’t Blame Me, They All Look The Same’ Says Hunt

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt was in hot water this morning, after mistakenly telling attendees at a packed trade talks meeting in Beijing that his wife is Japanese, rather than Chinese. Mr Hunt was quick to correct the mistake for fear of offending his Chinese hosts, but appeared to backtrack later.
“Well it’s an easy mistake to make,” he told reporters. “Chinese…Japenese…Taiwanese, it’s all the same really isn’t it? Can you tell, the difference? I bloody can’t although I’m sure she probably mentioned it at some point.”
Meanwhile, back in the UK, Mrs Hunt revealed she has a pet name for Jeremy. “I call him Watak,” she said “It means ‘character’ in Malaysian. “I know I’m not Malaysian, but it’s all the same isn’t it, and it suits him perfectly. I’ve even heard people who don’t know him using it in the street.”
