Wetherspoons Issue Profits Warning As Unemployment Hits Record Low
2018-08-15
Pub chain Wetherspoons have issued a profits warning this morning following yesterday’s announcement that UK unemployment has fallen by 65,000 in the last quarter to 1.36 million – its lowest level since 1975.
A spokesperson for the chain said “This is a massive blow for us, and one we can’t absorb without taking a big hit on profits. There’s only so much money you can make out of pensioners coming in for a warm, ordering a shitty microwave meal, and nursing half a bastard lager and black for two hours.”
In unrelated business news, ITV have revealed that viewing figures for The Jeremy Kyle show have fallen by 65,000 to 1.36 million in the last quarter.
