Oldest Living Glaswegian Celebrates The Big 4-0

The oldest living Glaswegian was celebrating this week, after reaching the big 4-0. Andy McTavish (40) reached the milestone on Monday, and the occasion was marked by a surprise party attended by his children, grandchildren and carers.
Andy, who puts his longevity down to clean living, good genetics and not starting smoking or drinking neat whisky until he was 11, says he has lived through incredible change and can even remember as far back as when Scotland last won a football match. “I never expected to live this long,” he told the Bugle from the sheltered accommodation where he now lives. “I think it shows that if you look after yourself, anything’s possible.”
Andy, who still does some of his own shopping, says he’s now thinking of writing a book so that the history he’s lived through isn’t lost for ever. “Pretty soon there’ll be nobody left who can remember The Proclaimers or Jimmy Krankie” he said “I need to get it all down on paper.”
