Police in Edinburgh are understood to have made an arrest in connection with an alleged coin throwing incident at the game between Hibs and Hearts last night. It comes after a man walked into a police station and reported a ten pence piece missing. Hibs manager Neil Lennon was hit in the face with a coin during the top of the table Scottish Premiership clash as a last minute goal for Hearts was disallowed.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh police told the Bugle “A man walked into our central Edinburgh station this morning in an agitated and emotional state. He said that he had lost a 10p piece during the final moments of last nights’ game. We are examining cctv footage now and expect to be in a position to press charges, later in the day.
Regular followers of Scottish football believe the man may have intended to throw a penny but became over-excited and confused in the heat of the moment.
