Shake-up at The Simsons as Apu character to be re-voiced by Nigel Havers

There was an indication that the producers of The Simpsons have listened to criticism of racial stereotyping this morning, when it was announced that English thespian Nigel Havers will henceforth be the voice of convenience-store owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. The news comes after the original actor, Hank Azaria said he will no longer provide the voice for Apu.
An insider on the show told The Bugle. “We need to move with the times, and presenting immigrants as hard-working family-loving business owners with accents associated with their country of birth simply isn’t acceptable in 2020. We think bringing Nigel in is a major step forward.”
Apu’s accent isn’t the only change proposed for the character, designed to banish accusations of stereotyping. In other developments, it emerges that Apu has a long-standing cocaine addiction, owns a vicious Pit Bull, and that his 8 children aren’t in fact his but are the result of his wife’s liason with a male stripper called Todd.
