Italian instinct to surrender still strong as schools and colleges close

The time-proven instinct of Italians to surrender at the first sign of any difficulty is still alive and well. The Italian government last night announced the closure of all schools and colleges in the country  in the wake of the Coronavirus, even in areas where there is little or no sign of the virus.

A government spokesperson told The Bugle “It has always been our policy to give in and then ask questions later. It worked for us in WW2 and I can see no reason why it won’t work now. We’ll be monitoring the situation closely in the coming weeks with a view to possibly joining forces with the virus if it starts to get the upper hand.”

As The Bugle went to press, Italian factories were said to be considering dropping a day each week to try and contain the virus, by moving to a two day week.
