Normal people with teeth return to streets of Barnsley
2020-04-05
There was an unexpected, but welcome, side effect of the Coronavirus outbreak this week as normal people with teeth started to return to the streets of Barnsley.
The positive environmental impacts of the virus are only just starting to be understood, but scientists have already noted an improvement in air quality in China and the return of sea life to the canals of Venice. Dolphins have been spotted off the southern coast of Italy and even goats in the welsh town of Llandudno. But the return of normal people with teeth, to the streets of Barnsley is the clearest sign yet that there will be a positive side to this worldwide emergency.
“We never expected to see the return of normal people with teeth to the streets of Barnsley” said Profesor Martin Clunge from south Wombwell University. “Most disappeared decades ago for fear of losing what set them apart – their teeth. But now we’re seeing them slowly return from behind their electric gates and double-mortice locked doors. They are still cautious, but wandering freely.
It’s a small miracle.”
