Barnsley garden centre becomes first in UK to stock Dog Shit Bush

There was an unexpected boost for a Barnsley garden centre this week as it became the first in the UK to stock the Dog Shit Bush. The bush (Latin name: Turdus Inplasticus) is a common sight in the wild but has not been previously available commercially
Trevor Clunge, owner of Barnsley Plantpots in Wombwell says that the Coronavirus may be responsible for the spike in interest as people unaccustomed to taking a walk in local countryside seem to have noticed the bush for the first time.
“We had a lot of people coming in asking for ‘that bush with black hanging flowers that you see everywhere’” said Trevor. “When we figured out what they were after, me and my staff have been working round the clock to fill demand. Some have got dogs, some haven’t, but everyone’s chipping in where they can. I can see the appeal. It never needs watering and looks just as good all year round. It’s something you can add to yourself as well and you can’t say that about any other species we stock.”
The bush is ubiquitous in public spaces around the UK but this is the first time it’s been brought into the domestic garden arena. “We think this could set a trend,” said Trevor, “and we’re seriously thinking of doing something with it for Chelsea next year. I have a vision for ‘bigger blooms’ and already have a few ideas on how we might do it.”
