Confusion As Bewildered Pensioner Wanders Into Cenotaph Parade

There was confusion yesterday morning after a bewildered pensioner got off his bus at the wrong stop on the way to Tesco, and found himself in the middle of the armistice day parade at the Cenotaph.

Surrounded by Theresa May, former Prime Ministers and world dignitaries, the bearded man wearing a scruffy grey hooded anorak looked uncomfortable as the ceremony got under way and it became clear he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“You had to feel sorry for him, bless him” said one onlooker “He was holding his wreath like he was using it as protection from a Gareth Bale free kick, wearing a red tie, and his poppy was the size of a well-sucked Fisherman’s Friend. People should give him a break. It’s not as if he’s a political leader or anything.”

Well-wishers have launched an appeal this morning to buy the man a decent coat. You can contribute by going to www.justgiving.com/tidythetwatup.
