Former Miss Barnsley To Play Santa After Growing Beard

A former Miss Barnsley is set to play Santa Claus this Christmas after spending the last 10 days growing a beard.
Hannah Woodcock from Wombwell, who won the prestigious crown in 2016, beating off over 50 other local beauties, says she’s striking a blow for gender equality by taking on what has traditionally been a male role.
“I know people will look at me and think I’m not what they expected, but I just want to prove you can be a beautiful young woman and still be taken seriously by doing something different.” she said.
Hannah, who normally keeps her stubble short says that growing the beard was easier than she expected. “Most of my friends have got a full set but they were shocked when the old whiskers thickened up so quickly.” she said.
And Hannah’s new look is certainly a hit with local lads. “I know she won Miss Barnsley, said Giles Ponsomby-Smyth – also from Wombwell – but she was always a bit too stuck up looking for me. All I can say is wow! I might even have a crack at her myself after Christmas if she keeps the look.”
