Rees-Mogg Blames 850,000 British First World War Deaths On Lack Of Common Sense

Jacob Rees-Mogg has said that almost 850,000 First World War deaths could have been avoided if those involved had employed the type of common sense you get from going to a really posh school.

Speaking in remembrance week, the leader of the house said that, had the soldiers simply stayed in their trenches rather than listening to the advice of their commanding officers, they would probably have survived. “I don’t think you or I would  have listened to that advice.” he told a radio interviewer. “ It’s patently obvious that you’re far safer in a trench than running around like a loon with bullets flying everywhere. What kind of numpty does that? We’d have used our common sense and kept our heads down. In fact, no, we’d have done better than that because we’d have been the ones yelling ‘Follow me!’ and then laying low and avoiding the consequences.”

Mr Rees-Mogg was quick to pour cold water on any suggestions that there were parallels between this approach and the one he is adopting for ensuring the UK leaves the EU, no matter what.
