Respite for Quarantined cruise ship passengers as onboard entertainment cancelled

There was some respite for the passengers of the cruise ship Diamond Princess, moored up in the Japanese port of Yokahama this morning, with news that the onboard entertainment has been cancelled. Passengers and crew have been placed in quarantine for at least 14 days following an outbreak of the Coronavirus on board and are confined to their cabins.

“To be honest it’s not that bad” said Ted Rogers from Barnsley who is on the cruise after losing a holiday-deciding arm wrestle with his wife Clodagh. “At least we’re not tripping over the zimmer frames in here and we don’t have to listen to some out of tune ‘beat trio’ who’d get booed off at Wombwell club. I went to a talk given by a bloke who had a bit part in Heartbeat the other day, and he filled an hour with boring anecdotes about Bill Maynard’s socks. Well that’s all stopped. And nobody is forcing us on to coaches to visit tourist hell-holes flogging worthless tat either. So it could be a lot worse.”

As The Bugle went to press, Ted and Clodagh  were entertaining themselves by lobbing half eaten prawn sandwiches from their cabin balcony at waiting world news crews.
