Barnsley like a ghost town as fly tipping and dogging suspended due to Storm Ciara

Barnsley was said to be like a ghost town this morning, as fly tippers and doggers abandoned their traditional Sunday pursuits in the wake of Storm Ciara bringing high winds and heavy rain to the area. Popular dumping and pumping sites, as they are known locally were practically deserted, as locals sought refuge from the weather.
Dave Scum-Bag from Wombwell was typical of those we spoke to this morning “On a normal Sunday I’d have already offloaded a boot load of building rubble down a country lane by this time, and be on my way back home to pick up a knackered fridge. It’s not even fit to dump a mattress today. Later on I usually like to call in to a disused car park for a bit of light relief. It’d normally be heaving on a Sunday afternoon, but I can’t raise any enthusiasm in this wind, and neither can anyone else.”
A spokesperson for the AA said it was the quietest day on Barnsley’s roads since April 14th 2017 when rumours began to circulate of a clampdown on road tax dodgers and uninsured vehicles
