Panic shoplifting reported in Barnsley
2020-03-08
There were reports of panic shoplifting in Barnsley this morning as fears over Coronavirus grow. Local thieves who normally take Sunday as a day of rest were reported to be out in force, stocking up on a whole range of staple household products.
“If I don’t nick these now there might not be any left later in the week.” one scroat who asked not to be named for legal reasons told our reporter as he trousered a family pack of baked beans. “I normally take Sunday’s off but I was at it early this morning. Good job too. It was like a magistrates court reunion in Tesco’s today.”
The Bugle understands that local bus operators have responded to increased demand by laying on a number of ‘shoplifter specials’ into Barnsley town centre from neighbouring Wombwell over the weekend.
