League suspension just the boost we needed, says Wednesday manager Monk

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Monk was in an ebullient mood this morning following the news that league football is to be suspended until April 4th at the earliest.
“This is just the boost we needed,” a clearly relieved Monk told The Bugle “It means our goal difference can’t get any worse during the rest of March. Obviously we wouldn’t have got any points anyway, so we have to look at that as a massive plus.”
Monk was equally forthright when questioned on the potential loss of revenue. “We’re going to be quids in” he laughed “We’ve already got all the season ticket money and they won’t be getting that back. Let’s face it, nobody would come on the day if they weren’t already committed, so nothing lost there. And we won’t have to pay any appearance money or matchday wages.”
The Bugle understands that club representatives are already lobbying for an extension of the suspension to the end of 2025, at which point all the season ticket money runs out and the ground can be sold to Morrisons.
