Barnsley police warn of thieves posing as fly tippers

Police have issued an urgent warning to locals this morning after reports that thieves have been spotted in the area, posing as fly tippers.
A spokesperson for south Yorkshire police told The Bugle “We’re asking householders to be vigilant. We’ve received numerous reports of members of the public being lulled into a false sense of security by people knocking on their door and offering to dump their shit down a country lane for cash. Once they’ve gained their confidence and handed over their old settee or building rubble, they’re finding that other stuff has gone missing. One woman lost an Argos Barbeque.”
Ted Clunge who runs a local fly tipping operation told The Bugle “It’s disgusting that this scum are profiting on the back of our good name. Something like this could put us out of business.”
As The Bugle went to press, there were reports that three premium garden gnomes were being loaded on to the back of a Hi-Lux pickup in Wombwell, already heavily laden with the remnants of a 1980’s MFI kitchen.
